Phat Joe Back on Air After Suspension Rumours
Earlier this week, it emerged that controversial radio presenter Phat Joe had been suspended by SABC for repeatedly failing to show up for work.
The DJ had reportedly taken several unsactioned off days, leaving his co-host Nala Tose to host Phat Joe and The Family alone. He was said to have added himself a few more holiday days after the Christmas break.
“The SABC can confirm that Mr Majota Kambule is currently on special leave, details of which we’re unable to comment on out of respect for the contractual relationship between the two parties,” a spokesman for the station said.
After news outlets ran with the ‘suspended’ headline, SABC has come out to dispute that, insisting it was a ‘special leave’. Phat Joe has since returned on air, but neither party is ready to reveal the circumstances surrounding his absense.
“The SABC can confirm that Mr. Majota Khambule “Phat Joe” is back on air having been on special leave,” SABC acting spokesman Mmoni Seapolelo said.
