East Rand School Principal Suspended for Impregnating 2 Pupils
A school principal in Daveyton, East Rand, has been suspended following allegations of impregnating two pupils. The education MEC of Gauteng, Panyaza Lesufi, has confirmed the suspension.
Members of the EFF have been protesting outside the school, calling for action to be taken against the head of school for quite some time. Parents and concerned members of the public had been complaining about the school head for more than three months according to reports.
The EFF members applauded when the police apprehended the principal at the school grounds. A spokesperson for the EFF, Sipho Watkins, criticized the principal for ‘taking advantage of pupils who were under his care’.
The EFF did not shy away from expressing their disappointment in the fact that it took long before the principal faced any consequence.
Later, Lesufi visited the school where he announced that the principal had been served with a letter of suspension and an investigation into the allegations would follow.
Lesufi also reported that a new principal has been appointed to serve the school for the time being.
