Actress Zinhle Mabena Arrested Over Attempted Murder Allegations

‘Isibaya’ actress Zinhle Mabena was arrested on Tuesday evening 16th February 2021 on a charge of alleged attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder against her husband. The actress who plays the character of Sihle in Mzansi Magic’s soapie is accused of allegedly hiring hitmen to kill her husband and businessman, Robert Ngwenya.

It is believed the couple is in the midst of a divorce and has deleted any presence of each other on their respective social media channels. During the attempted murder incident, Ngwenya was not hurt but two of his bodyguards were shot at, and one lost his life.

“According to police statements, Ngwenya’s car was shot at while at petrol a station in Forest Hill, Centurion on 20 January 2021, by unknown assailants, and one of his bodyguards’s lost his life.

“Sunday World has seen CCTV footage which clearly shows a Toyota Bakkie parking at the stations gas lane, while another Ford Ranger immediately stops at another lane and starred shooting at the Ngwenya’s car.”

According to the footage, the assailants had used an AK47 and had sprayed Ngwenya’s bakkie with numerous bullets before fleeing the scene. Gauteng police spokesperson Kay Makhubeke confirmed Zinhle’s arrest and said she was due to appear before the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court today 17 February. Makhubele said the actress was arrested after evidence was uncovered at her home linking her to the attempted murder case.

Police sources indicate that the police arrested Zinhle after they found the AK47 gun and a cellphone which she allegedly used to communicate with the hitmen. It is also understood that Ngwenya had also received threatening messages from same number which was later found to be in possession of Zinhle at her home.

In January 2021, it was reported that Ngwenya is set to release a tell-all book about his experiences during their short-lived marriage. The book will be titled: “5 YEARS IN MARRIAGE a chronicle of LOVE, MARRIAGE AND DIVORCE) by Dr Robert Ngwenya.
