7de Laan actor Deànré Reiners, tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday. Deànré plays Shawn in the Afrikaans soapie. Deànré firsat came to the Tv screen in 2013 taking up the role of Emil in the Afrikaans soapie, Binnelanders. In 2014 he landed two leads in Afrikaans films directed by Darrell Roodt.

Speaking to Huisgenoot, Deànré said that he was disappointed and feels like he is letting down the other actors and production team. He took to his Instagram stories to share a picture of his medication.
Deànré watched a rugby match with friends the previous weekend. He tells Huisgenoot that a friend notified him on the following Tuesday that he tested positive for Covid-19 and advised him to self-isolate. On his third day of self-isolation, he started to experience severe symptoms, but has since made a full recovery.
The actor, who says that he has some exciting scenes in the pipeline, tells Huisgenoot that the production has rewritten his scenes or arranged for his scenes to be filmed later. In January the SABC announced that it would reduce 7de Laan‘s weekly episodes from five to three, starting April.
