Man ‘Healed’ of HIV by Pastor Lukau Has Died
A 34 year old man who believed he had been healed of HIV has died, in what is believed to be HIV-related complications.
Nomthandazo Ndaba, a brother to Zakhele – the victim, says that he stopped taking his anti-retroviral medication after Pastor Alph Lukau laid his hands on him and proclaimed that he was healed.
The Daily Sun is reporting that Zakhele had lived healthily for 4 years with the virus, until he stopped taking the ARV drugs.
According to family, the man started attending Lukau’s church in 2016, and became what can be described as a ‘staunch follower’. His sister adds that not even ill health would prevent him from attending service every Sunday.

Two months ago, Ndaba’s family got a visit from home-based care workers, to find out why their brother had stopped showing up at the clinic to collect his medicine. But not even family intervention could change his mind.
“In his final days Zakhele was weak. He had blisters all over his body. He looked nothing like the person he was when he first went to that church,” Ndaba recalled.
In a church video posted online, Pastor Lukau is seen standing beside Zakhele’s hospital bed, praying for him. A message then appears on the screen stating that he had been healed of TB, diabetes and HIV.
The church has since come out to defend itself, saying they do not encourage patients to stop seeking medication, until they confirm from their doctor that they are truly healed.
