Ramaphosa in Cairo for Summit to Save Libya and Sudan

President Cyril Ramaphosa is in Cairo, Egypt, attending a summit hosted by the Egyptian leader Abdeltafah El-Sisi. The summit is aimed at discussing the major issues that are affecting Sudan and Libya. It is expected that at least five more other chief government officials will be joining the discussion.

El-Sisi called this summit as the rotating chairman of the African Union.

President of Djibouti, Chad, Rwanda, DRC, and Somalia are also expected to attend along with African Union commission chair Moussa Faki.

On Sudan deliberations, they will look into and discuss the best strategies that can be used to bring peace back — following the unrest that in the country that has led to the ‘resignation’ of Omar Al Bashir from the presidency.

Recently, conflicts have been experienced around Tripoli conducted by factions opposed to the Libyan government.
