Olpha ‘Gee Six Five’ Selepe Passes On Due To Covid-19 Complications
Viral sensation Olpha Selepe, commonly known as Gee Six Five has passed away as a result of Covid- 19 complications. According to a statement released on the late singer’s Twitter page, Olpha tested positive on Monday and was under self isolation under her family’s watch.

Gee Six Five gained fame last month after her song Obani Lababantu was posted online and there after went viral. In a past interview the singer shared that the song was meant to send a message to those always wondering what others think of them.
βWhen I composed this song, I wanted to address a question people are always thinking: ‘Who are these people talking about me?’ You know, who are these jealous people, who are these people laughing at me? So I wanted to send a message,β she said in a past interview.
Olpha was a celebrated retired teacher. Before retirement, she headed a primary school as the principal and also headed Northdale TVET College Pietermaritzburg and also briefly taught in the UK. Before her death she was a PhD student.
She was also a decorated choir conductor and was active in competitions at regional and national levels.
