‘Google People Cards’ Launched in South Africa. How To Get Yours

Google People Cards South AfricaAfter launching in India in August 2020, Google has now brought its personalized search profile to South Africa.

Dubbed ‘Google People Cards’, the product has been made available to 3 other countries on top of India. And all of them happen to be in Africa, namely; Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa.

It’s a way of Google giving you control over the search results when it comes to what appears when you search your own name.

This feature has previously been reserved for celebrities, where a separate card with their details and links to social media profiles is displayed on the right side of the search page.

Creating these new information cards will ensure that you get a prime slot on the search page, everytime your name is Googled. The search giant is hoping to initially attract influencers, entrepreneurs, and people with a decent following online.

How To Create Your Own Google People Card

As mentioned, this feature is only available in India, Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa at this time. It may be rolled out to other countries in future.

Further, this can only be done on a mobile browser as of now.

To create your own information card, you need to sign into your Google account, then open the Chrome browser or the Google Search App.

Type in the search terms “edit my people card.” or ” add me to Google“.

At the top right of the search results, you’ll see a card template. Tap edit.

Fill in your personal information with details including: location, about, profession, social media profiles etc. You can leave out whatever you don’t want displayed.

Google will auto-complete your email and phone number, but you have an option of restricting their visibility.

The card may take a few hours to appear on the search results.
