Over 300 WiFi Hotspots To Be Launched at Western Cape Schools
The Democratic Alliance (DA) has committed itself to launching over 300 WiFi hotspot zones in Western Cape schools. Western Cape Premier Alan Winde says this will happen over the next financial year.
The schools are based in Cape Town, Overberg and Cape Winelands.
“I am excited on behalf of the 244 schools across the City of Cape Town Metro and 77 schools in the Overberg, West Coast, Cape Winelands, as well as Eden and Central Karoo areas who will soon have access to the Internet at free public Wi-Fi zones,” said DA spokesperson Ricardo Mackenzie.
“The rollout will specifically prioritise disadvantaged areas such as Gugulethu, Nyanga, Bishop Lavis and Philippi.”
Several schools already have installed WiFi capacity, and according to the DA, feedback has been positive. A total of 103 WiFi hotspots were launched in the last financial year.
