Old Man in Phoenix Admits To Killing His Wife

A Phoenix grandfather, alleged to have slit his wife’s throat, admitted to the crime in the Verulam Magistrate Court, on Wednesday.

The 64-year old culprit, Dickson Naidoo, went to the police station by himself a short while after the homicide on Monday. On his first appearance in front of a judge, he confessed that he indeed murdered his wife.

He went on to decline legal representation and said that he would represent himself. His relatives, seated in the public gallery, could not help but cry.

According to witnesses, Naidoo slit his wife’s throat using a large kitchen knife in their rental home in Eastbury. The body was discovered by KZN VIP security after neighbors rang alarms.

One of the old couple’s neighbors, Yvonne Chetty, expressed how surprised she was by the act.

“He used to do everything for her. They really loved each other. I cannot believe what has happened.”
