Imfezemnyama Accused Of Stealing Song

Zwalebo ‘Mxhashazwa’ Majola claims that Phumlami ‘Imfezemnyama’ Khumalo stole his song. In an interview, Mxhashazwa said that a song called Isigilamkhuba was in his third album and had released it in 2017. He was surprised to hear the same song being released by Phumlami in 2019, only with a different title.

The artist said that Imfezemnyama was aware that the song belonged to him but merely took advantage because he is famous.

“He took advantage because he is famous and people will easily believe him,” Mxhashanza said of Phumlami.

Mxhashanza had performed the song at many gigs but had lacked the money to promote and market it.

“Unfortunately, I did not have the money to promote and market it. As a result, my song never got popular,” he said.

Imfezemnyama was quick to shut down the accusation, despite having released ‘Mama ubaba ulala nami’ which has the same tune, lyrics and chorus. He claimed to not know Mxhashazwa.

“Who’s Mxhashazwa? I don’t even know him,” Mxhashazwa commented.

He also said that the song was already in the public domain so nobody can claim to own it.
