First Tesla Model X Coming To South Africa Next Week

Rubicon is bringing a Tesla Model X Performance Edition all electronic SUV into South Africa Next Week. Rubicon is a sustainable technology group. As per the director of Rubicon Energy & E- Mobility, Greg Blandford, this will be a big step forward raising the profile of renewable energy in South Africa.  The vehicle will be used for marketing initiatives within the Rubicon Group to promote Tesla Powerwall and officially launch Rubicon’s entry into the electric vehicle charging space in South Africa.

“ The arrival of the Model X gives South Africans the opportunity to see up close what an electric future looks like and to experience high-performance electric vehicles and the technology showcased within the Tesla Model X for the first time”, Blandford said.

In 2017 the Model X became the first SUV to earn a 5-star crash safety rating across all categories and sub-categories from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in the United States. Model X is built for utility and performance with Standard AWD, best in class storage and seating for up to seven. The Tesla Model X SUV wows with its long range battery capacity. The model X’s electric motors provide on-demand all-wheel drive and performance -car acceleration. Handling is surprisingly nimble for an SUV of this size too.

The added practicality of the model X’s optional third row seats should appeal to family -oriented buyers. The Model X has received a styling refresh both inside and out. Cleaner lines give the SUV a more modern appearance on the outside while the cabin benefits from a redesigned infotainment display and a new F1-style square steering wheel.

Long range model X’s come standard with two electric motors-one at the front axle and one at the rear-which enables all-wheel drive capability. This setup is Plenty Swift and makes 670 horepower, Tesla claims a zero -to -60mph time of 3.8 seconds. The 1020-hp three motor plaid high-performance variant is boasts a claimed zero -to-60 mph time of 2.5seconds ,but we haven’t verified it’s acceleration times at our test track yet. Handling is respectable, but the model X’s party trick is really the strong acceleration generation by its electric motors.
