One of Mzansi fav couple, Mnqobi “Shota” Mdabe and his wife Phumeza Mdabe, are setting another marriage milestone.
Last week marked their 6th year in holy matrimony, something many couples are unable to achieve these days.
The couple has been through worse times, with 2014 being particularly difficult for them. Their last born son was diagnosed with stage 4 eye cancer. In the years that followed, the family racked up huge medical bills and had to cut down on their lavish lifestyle.
They had to spend R50,000 just to buy their son prosthetic eyes after he failed to respond to treatment.

It was a hard time for them and lots of their friends abandoned them.
“The business calls dry up and you look around and discover you are left with no one but him
“You wake up every day and you don’t know if he is going to lose his life or not.
“We decided to dedicate our time and love to him, but that came with its consequences,” Phumeza told SowetanLive then.
The family held together, with the couple’s bond growing even stronger.
The couple has now learned to live with the new reality, and now appreciate life even more.
On their sixth anniversary, Phumeza wrote on Instagram, ”6 years ago, on this day, we made our union official at home affairs (literally😁) and went home to celebrate with a few friends and family. 6 down, a lifetime to go!Happy Anniversary baba weyingane!”
