The metro cop captured on video intoxicated while on duty has been suspended. This is according to Ekurhuleni Acting Mayor Lesiba Mpya.
In a widely circulated video, the officer of the law is seen struggling to walk and talk, under heavy influence of alcohol.
Members of the public ambush him and lead him to his patrol car. A lady officer then confiscates his pistol and takes the driver’s seat.

Mpya added that the cop will face disciplinary hearings. The female officer will be a witness.
“I have instructed the chief of police to suspend him and to follow the due disciplinary processes. As we speak, an investigation into the police officer’s actions has been launched so that we get to the bottom of the behaviour displayed in the video.
“The female officer seen in the video has been instructed to make a written submission into what her involvement was during the incident”, said Mpya.
