Jacob Zuma Comments After Son Duduzane Was Acquitted

Former President Jacob Zuma’s son, Duduzane Zuma, was today found not guilty of culpable homicide and negligent driving.

Duduzane had been charged in relation to a car crash that occurred in February 2014 on the M1 highway in Gauteng.

The Randburg Magistrate’s Court found no evidence that the accused should have foreseen a puddle of water, which he blamed for making him lose control of his car.

“There is no evidence that the accused should have foreseen the puddle… There is no evidence showing what steps he should have taken to avoid aquaplaning,” magistrate Tebogo Thupaatlase said.

Shortly after the ruling, President Zuma expressed relief and satisfaction in the ruling. Zuma has been on his son’s side for most of this hearing, which has been going on for nearly 5 years.
