Internship Opportunity: National Museum Bloemfontein
The National Museum, Bloemfontein (Oliewenhuis Art Museum) invites applications for intern positions in art museum guides.
They should be motivated students or recent graduatesfor an internship as Art Museum Guides. They should be able to interact professionally with visitors, effectively handle queries from visitors, have knowledge of visual art and have the ability to communicate with people of diverse backgrounds and ages.
Qualifications:
1. Visual Art qualification or similar and / or currently studying towards one.
2. Practical knowledge or experience in the field will be an added advantage.
3. Excellent oral communication skills. English is a must, Sotho is an added advantage.
4. Friendly, outgoing personality and the ability to speak comfortably in front of small and large groups of people.
5. Ability to physically accompany people and lead tours around the Museum.
6. Enthusiasm and a willingness to learn and to do basic research on temporary andpermanent exhibitions.
7. An eager inquisitive individual that shows interest or experience in art education
Responsibilities:
• Ensuring the safety and security of all artworks on exhibition.
• Professional interaction with visitors and effective handling of queries regarding Oliewenhuis Art Museum, temporary and permanent exhibitionsand to conduct informative Guided Tours.
• Assistance with general administration, exhibitions, projects and events,educational workshops and activities; including after hour events
