A new reality show featuring media personality Khanyi Mbau will not happen afterall.
In November last year, the reality show dubbed I Am Khanyi, was announced at the DStv Showcase in Sandton, Johannesburg. It was to be part of the 2020 line up of local and international shows.
The show was one of 3 reality shows announced that day, including Kelly Khumalo‘s Life with Kelly and Shauwn Mkhize‘s KwaMamkhize.
I Am Khanyi was set to debut in April on Mzansi Magic, but from the latest news reports, that will not happen.
Dailysun broke the news that the reality show has been shelved even before it aired. The reasons are unclear, but Khanyi is blaming the station.
“The channel had announced me having a show prematurely. I was surprised when my brand strategist, Dylan Kardashian, shared a link with me. This because I’d only been in talks with them exploring the idea,” she said.
The 34 year old added that she is not ready to let the public into her private life.
“2019 was tough and challenging”. I wasn’t strong mentally to take up the responsibility of producing a show that would demand so much of me.”
