South Africa’s Average Salaries Revealed
Adzuna, a job search engine, has released a report based on its own listings, showing the average salaries in various South African cities.
The data shows that the best salaries are found in the Western Cape, Gauteng, and Limpopo provinces.
On the other side, the Eastern Cape province has the lowest income bracket in the country.
Gauteng with R397,345 has the highest average salary, while Eastern Cape with R293,011 has the lowest. That’s more than a R100,000 difference.

When it comes to cities, Johannesburg and Cape Town take the first two positions as expected.
“Johannesburg is South Africa’s highest-earning city, with an average income of R447,857 per year,” the report stated.
“Cape Town closely followed the lead of the country’s capital city, with an average annual salary of R437,853.
“The cities that earned the least per year were East London, Bloemfontein, and Jeffreys Bay, with Jeffreys Bay earning the lowest average income of just R120,750 per year.”
