Thobile Steyn Wins 2020 Miss Soweto Crown
21 year old Thobile Steyn has been crowned Miss Soweto 2020 during the finale of the 41st annual Miss Soweto beauty pageant, held at Soweto Theatre last weekend.
The 21 year old walked away with a cash prize of R100,000 as well as a year worth of beauty products from Candi&Co and gowns by Eli Ball. Thobile Steyn won in the Miss Congeniality category as well, and this saw her walk away with an additional cash prize of R5000.
The pageant finale was judged by 2002 Miss South Africa runner up Bridget Masinga and former fashion editor and blogger Grace Mantjiu. Taking to social media, Thobile Steyn thanked the event organizers and all who voted for her to win.
“I stand before so so proudđź’•this journey has been nothing but amazing. I would like to thank the @whitestarsupermaizemeal and @misssoweto2020 team for this wonderful opportunity. I’m so honored to be your Queen 👑❤. Today I say to all the beautiful black girls that anything is possible đź‘‘đź’• it is possible black child đź’•,” she posted on her Instagram page.
Anathi Conjwa took the first runners up spot and Kutloano Moloi was crowned the first princess. Other winners of the night included Thando Tshabalala who secured title of Miss Social Butterfly and Tshireletso Olifant who won in the Miss Photogenic category.
