Uzalo has confirmed the renewal of the telenovela series for another season. The telenovela airs on weeknights on SABC 1. The Uzalo team is set to begin production of season 7 of the hit show in January 2021.
This is a welcome surprise to Uzalo fans, following rumors that the show would be cancelled after Season 6. It was said that SABC 1 would cancel it on account of the show’s redundant storyline.
Uzalo is one of the most watched TV shows in South Africa, regularly hitting 10 million viewers.
It is produced by Stained Glass Productions, which is co-owned by Kobedi “Pepsi” Pokane and Gugu Zuma-Ncube. The telenovela has been on air since 2015, and has earned fame due to its storyline and the great performances by the talented cast.
The telenovela tells the story of two young men, switched at birth and consequently have lives that are the complete opposite of what they would have had if they had not been switched. It currently airs from Monday to Friday on SABC 1.
