Gospel singer Hlengiwe Mhlaba is recovering at her home after her weekend road accident.
The star has been discharged from a Northern Zululand hospital, after what appears to be an improvement in her condition.
The Saturday afternoon crash happened in Melmoth, Northern KwaZulu-Natal. As she tried to avoid an oncoming car, Mhlaba who was behind the wheel swerved the car up a hill, causing it to roll.
“She tried to avoid the car and her Mercedes Benz went up the mountain and rolled,” family spokesman Nkululeko Khanyi said. “She is not in a position to say anything for now. On her behalf and that of her family, we ask the nation to pray for her.”
She was on her way to Mpumalanga with her team for a series of performances.
“They were doing quite a number of gigs this weekend so they we headed to the first festival. She was discharged from hospital yesterday and is back at home resting now,” her manager Thobile Mchunu was quoted.
Her passenger only received minor bruises and was discharged from hospital the same day.
This was Mhlaba’s 3rd accident this year.
